013: Incoming!

So you get to find out the name of the Lieutenant in this one. I named him after a friend who will soon find out if it's a good thing or a bad thing. I would like to say a little of both.

012: Concentration

So No Strip Yesterday...Why???

Well I was sick so bleah. Also I finished building this in the wee hours of the night. I entered an online mecha building contest. You can see the details here:

  • Iron Mecha: Lego Contest

  • Also here is a link to the gallery:

  • Jumping Flea

  • That is my excuse. Two strips tomorrow.

At least I'm still dedicated to the robot cause! :-P

    011: First Time

Here's Today's strip today! Imagine that!

BTW I think that the silhouette shot was inspired by RoboTaeKwon-Z's strip. That and I ran out of room because of all that dialog.

    010: Disgusting!

Flaked. Didn't post yesterday. Oh well. Work is busy, my daugter's birthday was yesterday, I've been trying to find time to finish up a mech I'm building for a contest, and not to mention going to the bathroom. Well here's yesterday's today.

    Imagine The Future With Robots...

A video for 1stavemachine. They're a NYC botique CG company. You can check them out here.

  • 1st Ave. Machine

  • Here's another video by them. Creepy! You've probably seen it already.

    008: Saying Goodbye

    UniPlug

This one I was experimenting with a technique were you take tracing paper and create a tone on the back with prismacolor, use acetone to melt and blend it, turn the drawing over and render the main image in a normal fashion. I guess this would be easier done in Photoshop. I still like the feel of drawing on tracing paper though. :-P

    007: Down But Not Out

So since I draw these daily some things seem to slip in subconsciously. That little purple thing that the robot is reaching for is actually an inhaler that I've been using for that stupid cough that's been going around. I just noticed it after the fact. *cough cough*

  • It's cool to see that this format helps us get our ideas out albeit in tiny bits but at least they get out dammmit!

    006: Swatting a Fly

    Phloo!

Just wanted to give a slow-jam shout out to my homie RoboTaeKwon-Z and his strip using the same stream-of-conscience method. You can check it out here:

  • Phloo!

    OctoBot 2.0

Here's yet another OctoBot. Brains floating in jar, camera lenses, tentacles, antennae. Yup. That's the recipe. On this you can see the underdrawing. Sometimes I do one but most of the time I don't.

    005: Short Lived Victory

    004: Mother Puss Bucket!

    003: Targeted

Installment no. 3. So I originally planned to do one a day but I really meant on per working day. I have kids so no time to draw on the weekends. Also, I really play up the cheesy sound effects because they're fun and goofy. Bwooosh!

    002: Calling the Shots

This one I added the Jelloids, characters I created while I was going to CalArts. They were also in a comicbok I did with some Disney story guys called "Poop Jelly." Not a gay reference but a silly name created by a four-year-old. Sheesh! I'll post that story when I get a chance.

    001: A Violent Introduction

Here's the first strip in my stream-of-consciousness strips series. Here's how I do it. Take a 2x8 dialog strip, draw a few squares, then fill them in with some continuity starting from left to right. Then see what you get! This one started with the little red ship and ended with a giant robot.

    Fiddler Bot

Here's another one. I just started from the head and worked my way down. I like the millions of eyes in behind the glass. Spooky! I went with an asymmetrical look and added a little shell in on the left arm thingy. It might be a sensor or something, hell I don't know! This was originally in color but It was scanned in glorious black and white. When I find it I will post the color version.

    Octobot

    See? I told ya.

This guy is just a little doodle I did. Usuallly when I'm bored I draw up a little sumpin' sumpin' like this. Back when "Empire Strikes Back" came out I was blown away by the design of the Imperial Probe Bot. To mix a robot with and insect and a octopus: GENIUS!! So there you have it. I ripped off Empire. Yes it's true. At least I didn't rip off The Matrix.

Fine point marker, Tria markers and a little colored pencil. All analog.
